Soviet Russian Military Folding Stock Buttstock AK47
The folding light-weight metal AK stock is performed in the form of a rigid welded frame from the steel stamped profile, folding to the left. This modification of АК part has been specially developed for Soviet airborne troops. Such AK stocks folded downwards-forward, under a receiver. Folding butt stocks also can be made of wood or plastic.
The form of a folding butt presupposes its big rigidity. The folding butt differs from stationary one by the presence of the hinge and latch spring (for example, light machine gun RPK, submachine guns AK-74/AK-74M). It is kept by a pawl, in folded position – by a lock placed in a receiver.
The folding butt is intended for installation instead of a regular wood butt stock on Kalashnikov's submachine guns of various modifications (Ak-47, АКМ, Ak-74, АКSU).
This AK part makes possible to reduce dimensions of the submachine gun for convenience of fire delivery from different kinds of shelters. Its form and size made it possible to keep convenience of holding and aiming, and also to operate with it in hand-to-hand fight, characteristic for the submachine gun with a wooden butt. The usage of a folding metal stock provides a little smaller weight of submachine gun and smaller time of conversion from travelling position to the fighting.
If you use submachine gun with a folding stock you have to carry the case in a pocket of magazines’ bag. The Kalashnikov submachine gun with a folding butt has an easy maneuvering ability. It is easily disassembled and assembled.
